Petal pearls, only 2 to 4mm in thickness, while exceeding 15mm in width and 20mm in length in this strand, are true second harvest China freshwater pearls without nucleus, drilled at a tangent. They are now much less plentiful than before, being replaced by lightweight coin pearls, that tend to be thicker, with less curvature, and can be drilled in other way without the risk of exposing the thread. This strand is 19 inches long without knots and weighs 147 grams - light in relation to the lustrous pearl area they display when strung this way.
